Plaque
Plaque presented to 'Dunnottar Castle' celebrating 20,000,000 tonnes of shipping calling at Las Palmas in 1953, the first time this has occured in the seventy years of the port's history. The wooden plaque is mounted with two engraved silver plates. The larger plate has three enamelled armorial shields in blue and red above the inscription: 'DUNNOTTAR CASTLE. A este baque ha correspondido el honor, de completer con su escala por primera vez en 70 años de historia de este Puerto, los 20, 000, 000 de B.R.T. como cifra total de trafico de un año Las Palmas de Gran Canarias Diciembre – 1953. La Junta de Obras de Los Puertos de la Luz y Las Palmas.’ The smaller plate is inscribed in English: 'The honor has fallen to this vessel with its call at Las Palmas today to celebrate the completion of 20, 000, 000 tons (q.p.) of shipping calling at Las Palmas in one year, for the first time in the Port's history which extends over 70 years. Las Palmas 22nd December 1953. Harbour Board Authorities of the Ports of La Luz and Las Palmas.' The item is in a presentation box.
