Replica seal

Replica seal of the City of Genoa. In a fitted box. Inscribed on reverse: 'LA CITTA DI GENOVA'. Label: 'This is the true copy (in silver) of the seal of the ancient Genoese Republic, an examplar of which, imprinted in green wax hangs from an act of 1337, and is preserved in the National Archives of Paris. It depicts a griffin treading upon the fox and the cock and it has in the circle the description 'Griphus ut has angit sic hostes Janua frangit.' - The griffin of Genoa strangling the imperial eagle and the fox of Pisa.
