Portsmouth halfpenny token commemorating Admiral of the Fleet Richard Howe (1726-1799) and the Glorious First of June, 1794. Obverse: Bust of Admiral Howe in a tie-wig, uniform and cocked hat with bow and brim higher at the back (left). Legend: 'EARL HOWE & THE GLORIOUS FIRST OF JUNE.' Reverse: Britannia seated, a shield at her side, her left hand holding an olive branch, in her right hand a spear pointing to the head of R. Legend: 'RULE BRITANNIA'. Exergue: '1795'. Inscribed on edge: 'PORTSMOUTH HALFPENNY PAYABLE AT THOS. SHARPES.'
