Rectangular shaped ingot. Obverse: Port broadside view of a warship of Ramses III. Sail set. Five figures standing on deck. Inscripton: 'WARSHIP OF RAMSES III'. Reverse: Inscription, 'WARSHIP OF RAMSES III C. 1200 B.C. One of history's earliest fighting ships, the Warship of Ramses II was especially equipped for naval warfare. It had raised bulwarks to protect the oarsmen, a crow's nest for a look out and a special rigging to furl the sail and keep it out of the way of the warriors. The ship was first depicted on a wall in Ramses' tomb near the site of ancient Thebes.'
