Obverse: Short bust of Queen Victoria in a diadem and veil (L). Legend: "VICTORIA D:G:BRITT:REG:F:D:" Reverse: inscription within a laurel wreath tied with a bow "1863 TO 1864" Legend: "NEW ZEALAND VIRTUTIS HONOR". Suspended from a bar with leaf decoration and dark blue ribbon with a central scarlet stripe. Inscription on edge: "WM. WALKER. BOY, H.M.S. HARRIER".
