St Jean d'Acre Medal, Syrian War 1840
Obverse: The Sultan's cypher in Arabic, surrounded by a laurel wreath. Reverse: A fort flying the Turkish flag, above, six stars, inscription below in Arabic '1256 (1840)', 'The country of Syria and the fortress of Acre'. Fitted with a silver suspension bar and crimson ribbon edged with white, with a brooch pin. Awarded by the Sultan of Turkey in gold and silver to officers and in bronze to men. Presented to Lieut. Richard Aldworth Oliver (1811-1889)..
