West Indies Naval Campaign Medal 1898
Obverse: Bust of Admiral Sampson in uniform (L) Legend: "U.S. NAVAL CAMPAIGN. WEST INDIES 1898". Inscription: "WILLIAM T. SAMPSON, COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF". Reverse: Three men standing on deck, an officer (C) a sailor firing a gun (L) another armed with a rifle (R); ships in distance. Exergue: "MANZANILLO JUNE 30". Inscription on edge: "CHARLES J. HENLEY, LDS." Fitted with a ring a ribbon of equal stripes of red, blue, red, suspended from brooch pin inscribed with the name of a ship. Inscription: [2 Bars] "MANZANILLO" and "U.S.S. HORNET".
