Unidentified man

Oval miniature in watercolour with gum arabic, in a gilt oval frame. The sitter is an aristocratic-looking young man in his late teens or early 20s, with fair/auburn hair parted on his left, short sideburns and blue eyes. He is shown bust-length turned slightly to his right but looking out at the viewer. He wears fashionable and possibly formal civilian dress, the coat having a slightly frogged pattern, with a red waistcoat, embroidered white shirt with gold studs and a black cravat. Over the coat he appears to be wearing a loose cloak.
