St Jean d'Acre Medal, Syrian War 1840
        
        Syria Medal awarded to Henry Trollope (1815-1876), HMS 'Asia'. Obverse: The Sultan's cypher in Arabic, surrounded by a laurel wreath. Reverse: A fort flying the Turkish flag, above, six stars, inscription below in Arabic: 'The country of Syria and the fortress of Acre', '1256' (1840). Fitted with a silver suspension bar and crimson ribbon edged with white, with a brooch pin. Awarded by the Sultan of Turkey in gold and silver to officers and in bronze to men. Inscribed on the edge: 'HENRY TROLLOPE HMS ASIA SYRIA 1840'. Framed with LOA0763 and LOA0765.
