The petiton of John Newberry who, due to age and infirmities and having served aboard the PORTSMOUTH, GRAFTON and VANGUARD some twenty-eight years has become incapable of continuing in service aboard the latter. He asks for superannuation as a Carpenter. On the reverse is an entry referring the petition to the Navy Board for approval in granting him a pension. Countersigned by James Southerne, Secretary to the Admiralty Board.
