Patch box
Oval patch box with a mirror inside the lid, commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The surface is enamelled, the base and sides coloured royal blue. The lid has a blue and gold border with white spots. In the centre is a painted picture of Hope, leaning on an anchor, watching a sea battle in the background. Fame blows a trumpet. Inscription 'Hope stands beholding their Actions most Glorious', 'FAME with her trumpet sounds Nelson Victorious'.
