Patch box
Oval patch box with a mirror inside the lid, commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). The surface is enamelled, the base and sides royal blue. The lid is painted in colour with a mourning female figure and a tomb inscribed 'He is no more N'. The edge is blue with white dots, a gilt-edged white border is inscribed: 'Mourn England mourn grim Death As tore thy Darling NELSON away'.
