Portrait plaque
A pair of orange wax profile plaques of Admiral of the Fleet Lord Richard Howe (1726-99) and Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). Howe faces left, Nelson right, both in uniform with no colouring. They are based on the Wedgwood medallions modelled by John de Vaere in 1798. The profiles are mounted together in a glazed wooden frame on a dark ground. 'HOWE' and 'NELSON' on the background below the waxes.
