Submarine cable section

A portion of submarine cable. It is Cylindrical with a brass mount. The cable contains six copper wires, each one covered with two layers of gutta percha. These six insulated conductors are laid together and the interstices are filled with strands of tarred hemp. The outer covering consists of twelve galvanised iron wires.
