Silver candlestick
One of a pair of candlesticks which belonged to Mrs Elizabeth Cook, widow of Captain James Cook. Engraved on the base is Cook's crest, (awarded after his death), a raised arm holding a Union Flag. Motto, "Circa Orbem". The candlestick has a square moulded base decorated with beading and acanthus leaves and a pedestal stem of square section with a narrow neck and removable socket lining. The base is weighted and covered with wood underneath.
