In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

William Holloway, late Boatswain of the EXPEDITION, by reason of age and infirmity is incapable of officiating in his employment. By your report dated 15 June he has served as Boatswain in several ships in the Navy for 27 or 28 years, which is more than the time limited for the service of such officers to be superannuated by establishment made by His Majesty in Couincil dated 11 October 1690. In pursuance of this you are directed to settle a pension on him during his natural life equal to wages and allowances for a Boatswain of a third rate, to commence from the time he was discharged from the EXPEDITION. You are to sign bills quarterly on the Treasurer of the Navy for paying this pension.
