HMS Royal Alfred (1864); Warship

Scale: 1:48. A model of the stern of the HMS Royal Alfred (1864) showing the rudder and a cofferdam applied to the screw aperture. The model is made entirely of alternating types of wood with metal fittings and is stained and polished to a mahogany finish. The model has working rudder and two stern gun ports. The cofferdam is shown fully enclosed on the port side and open on the starboard side to show the propeller well and housing and the assembly of the dam. The model is displayed on a combined backboard and baseboard, both of which have bevelled edges.
