Sectional model; Component model

Scale: Unknown. Model of a ship's beam comprising of three timbers connected by a chock and iron bolts with keyed joints made entirely of oak which has then been stained a dark brown. The beam is rectangular throughout its length and tapers towards its widest point amidships. It would appear that it is one half of a beam and shows the various keys and butterfly scarphs used to construct beams of this size from several pieces of timber. There are also a number of holes running through the beam for securing the two halves together around the area of the keyed timber.
