Liquid compass

Bowl: Brass painted black. Detachable base which also houses expansion chamber. Two filling plugs. White inside. Mounted in brass gimbals. Has compensating spheres on U shaped bracket underneath bowl. Fixed prism mount attached to verge.
Card: White with black markings graduated to sixteen points and quadrantally in degrees. Brass spike at centre. Diameter 5" (12.7cm)
Needle: Two needles held in tubes slung beneath card.
Pivot: Unsighted
Prism: Adjustabe prism shows enlarged view of segment of card.
Set in brass brackets on ACO stand, Dims: 17.75" (45.1cm) x 5.9" (15.0cm)
