Watch in silver pair case, with enamelled dial and gold hands, subsidiary sewconds at VI, hand missing. It originally had a spring detent escapement but was later converted to English lever. It has Earnshaw's compensated balance oversprung with helical blued steel spring, fusee and chain. Hall mark for 1810 on inner case. Originally belonged to Captain George Langford RN, who as a Lieutenant in command of HM Sloop 'Sappho' of 18 guns, captured the Danish brig 'Admiral Yawl' of 28 guns for which he was promoted to Captain.
