Session overview
This session takes place in the All Hands gallery, which features immersive ship and dock environments that learners can touch and interact with.
Learners meet a pirate actor character named Alice Leghorn, who tells stories of life on the high seas and engages learners through:
- call and response
- games
- group and pair work on pirate names and poses
- question and answer time
Before or after the session, learners can use the Treasure Ahoy trail to explore the galleries and record the treasures they find in the displays. Groups are given printed trails on arrival.
For the full pirate experience, we encourage all children and teachers to come dressed in appropriate swashbuckling attire.
Learning objectives
Learners will:
- Meet a female pirate who will teach them everything they need to know to succeed on the high seas
