An online version of our on-site Introduction to Astronomy course, perfect for those who cannot travel to the Observatory.

An astronomy course for absolute beginners, led by an engaging tutor from the Royal Observatory Greenwich, the home of time and space.

This six-week course is for people with no prior knowledge of astronomy. It offers a basic introduction to the subject from historical, scientific, and practical perspectives. 

It is an excellent stand-alone course, but can provide a stepping stone to other introductory courses, such as Amateur Astronomy for Beginners and Introduction to Astrophysics.

This six week course will run twice in the 2021/22 academic year on Mondays:

  • 13th September - 18th October 2021
    • Note: The class on 20th September will be moved to Tuesday 21st September from 7-9PM. Students should notify the instructor if they are unable to make this class date. 
  • 18th April - 23rd May 2022

Note: This course will be held online via Zoom. This course is ideal for learners who are not in commutable distance to London or cannot travel to Greenwich.
