Work done notebooks belonging to Bernard George Cutbush
Work done notebooks kept by Bernard George Cutbush for voyages on vessels mainly managed by Furness, Withy & Co. Ltd. In his role of bosun he supervised the crew engaged in routine tasks on deck and kept daily notes on work completed, such as hours worked, the arrival and departure of the vessel at various ports, defects in equipment, weather conditions, and lists of stores and tools. The notebooks cover the following vessels: the LOCH GOWAN (1954), operated by Royal Mail Lines Ltd., 1960-1969; PACIFIC EXPORTER (1957, ex ARAMAIC), operated by the Pacific Steam Navigation Co., 1970; OROPESA (1957, ex PACIFIC EXPORTER), operated by the Pacific Steam Navigation Co., 1970-1972; ORCOMA (1966), operated by the Nile Steam Ship Co. Ltd. (a subsidiary of Furness, Withy & Co. Ltd.), 1972-1973; and ORDUNA (1973), operated by Royal Mail Lines Ltd. and managed by the Pacific Steam Navigation Co., 1973-1978. Also included are two further undated notebooks related to various vessels.
