Bax, Henry Bonham, Commander, Honourable East India Company, 1798-1869.
The papers consist of an illustrated list of buoys and light vessels owned by Bax as an Elder Brother of Trinity House. His illustrated book of lighthouses and a journal kept in the Mulgrave are in the Department of Pictures, on loan from Canon A.N. Bax since 1953
Administrative / biographical background
Bax was in the Navy from 1813 to 1817, after which he entered the service of the East India Company. In 1844 he became an Elder Brother of Trinity House. See Arthur Nesham Bax, A Bax family of east kent ( published privately, 1951).
