Journal kept by Stokes Rees as a midshipman on HMS PEMBROKE (1812), flagship of the Commander-in-chief at the Nore, Sheerness, between 10 January 1972 and 30 April 1872; the battleship HMS BELLEROPHON (1865) in home waters, between 1 May 1872 and 8 July 1872; and the ironclad ship HMS REPULSE (1868) in the Pacific, between 9 July 1872 and 15 April 1873.
