Specification for the 10,000 ton cruisers of the 1936 Programme, including the Southampton class - Birmingham (1936), Glasgow (1936), Newcastle (1936), Sheffield (1936) and Southampton (1936), all 6 inch cruisers; and originally for the Edinbugh class - Edinburgh (1938) and Belfast (1838), both 6 inch cruisers. The Edinburgh class had subsequent design alterations making them substantially different to the Southamptons.
