'Paddy Fields. Honolulu'

A general view of paddy fields at Honolulu with tall palm trees growing from the sides of the banks retaining the water in the fields. The high mountain ridges of extinct volcanoes can be seen in the background behind the trees.

Lt. Surtees was on board the light cruiser HMS Danae from October 1923 during the British Special Service Squadron tour of the world between 1923 and 1924. Danae visited Honolulu from 5 to 12 June 1924 before departing for Vancouver.
