HMS Victory During Her Restoration

In 1910 Wyllie was a founder member of the Society for Nautical Research, one of whose aims (along with the establishment of a National Maritime Museum) was the restoration in dry dock of the 'Victory'. Later, in 1922, Wyllie was given a seat on the 'Victory’ Technical Committee, and remained closely involved with the project, producing paintings, drawings and prints of various stage of the restoration. This watercolour appears to show a later stage of the restoration.
