This Plate of His Majestys Ship Director coming up & beginning her fire on the Larboard Quarter of the Vreyheid is humbly inscribed to Captn Willm Bligh, Officers &c

Title attached below image; previously miscatalogued as by William Owen. Exhibited in the NMM 'Mutiny in the Bounty' exhibition, 1989 no. 13.8. PAH5251 is apparently another version of it. All may in fact be watercolour over etching versions since the original three watercolours by Owen (done for Bligh in 1798 and exhibited at the Royal Academy) remain in the hands of descendants. These are illustrated in the catalogue of the Museum's 'Mutiny on the Bounty' exhibition 1989, p.43. Either PAH5251 or the present item was exhibited in that show and also illustrated as no 175 (p.xxx [30] of catalogue section).
