Terrestrial floor globe

In a damaged region, there is a note 'South Magnetic Pole / Hereabout'. In the south polar region, there are two notes with data on the magnetic variation.

Close to 'Owhyhee, near Karakakooa Bay', there is a note of Cook's killing: 'At this place Cap.t Cook was killed by the Natives Feb 14 1779 & was succeeded ... command by Cap.t Clerke ... the Resolution.' At the north side of the Sandwich Islands, the killings of Lieutenant Hergest, Mr Gooch, the 18th century astronomer and another seaman, is reported.

The tracks of Cook's voyages in 1769, 1771, 1772-1775, 1776 and 1778 are shown along with those of de la Perouse, Vancouver and Gore. A total of eight oceans are named.
