Document signed by James Southerne, Secretary to the Admiralty, fl. 1690-1694

Having this day received a letter dated 11th inst; from the Commander of the SMIRNA MERCHANT (in the Downs) which is ordered with the DARTMOUTH to Gothenberg, in which he informed me that his Pilot had not come to the Downs, I desire that you cause him to be dispatched away if he has not already gone.
Also that a Pilot for the Northward may be forthwith sent down to the LUCAS GALLY at the Buoy of the Nore, which Ship is ordered to cruise between Yarmouth Roads and Tinmouth Bar, and needs a Pilot as her Commander has informed.
