In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Captain Abraham Potter, Master Attendant at Sheerness, by reason of age and infirmities is incapable of officiating in his employment. Your report of 21 January states that he has served as Master's Mate, Master, Gunner, Lieutenant and Captain in several ships and Master Attendant at Sheerness between 16 and 17 years, which is more than the time limited for the service of such officers for them to be superannuated by His Majesty's Order in Council of 11 December 1690. You are directed to settle a pension on him during his natural life equal to the wages now allowed him as Master Attendant at Sheerness. You are to sign bills quarterly on the Treasurer of the Navy accordingly.
