Warship; 100-guns

Scale: unknown. A full hull model of a French 100-gun, three-decker ship of the line. The model is decked, equipped, rigged and scenic. It has retractable cannons operated by two pull cords at stern. It is a typical prisoner of war model of around 1800 showing the usual features: a steep angle to the bowsprit, generally accurate detail of rigging and a poor rendering of the hull shape. Makers tended to model large ships as they were thought to be more marketable. The model cannot be identified with an actual ship and its scale and date are unknown, but most were made around 1800 or shortly afterwards, which is confirmed by the details of the model.
