Full hull model; Rigged model; Scenic model

Scale: Unknown. A model of a cargo steamship made in wood and realistically painted and incorporates musical chimes. The model is set on a silk sea and both the ship and the surface of the water can move in a realistic fashion by means of a clockwork motor. The hull is painted brick red below the waterline, black above, and the decks are unpainted wood scored to resemble planking. Fittings include a fore and mainmast with white painted yards, five lifeboats, a single funnel, and a large stern deckhouse. The remains of the silk sea are painted blue. The model is in very poor condition with degraded silk, damaged and missing fittings on the model, and a rusty and broken mechanism. The model is housed in its original mahogany framed display case, glazed on four sides and the roof. Case label reads: "From Lyon Turnbull Ltd Edinburgh. To Greenwich Maritime Museum. Greenwich. (att. of Mr Munday.)".
