Afternoon Frequencies is an electronic music series at the Queen’s House, opening with a meeting of electronics and brass.
For this pilot concert, Dominic Murcott (modular synthesiser) and Alex Paxton (trombone) bring their respective practices into the historic Great Hall, performing music inspired by Greenwich’s watery history.
You're free to sit or move around during this informal concert in the Great Hall. The duration is approximately 45 minutes.
About the performers
Dominic Murcott is an award-winning composer and educator whose music flows across musical boundaries, combining live performers with electronic elements. In his spare time he is Professor and Head of Composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire.
Alex Paxton is a jazz trombonist and an international rising star of contemporary composition. A recent Guardian review said, “Paxton will make your ears ping … jazzy & noisy & oddly serious,” while the New York Times said, “In a dark time this music will make you smile … this is the most joyous sound I’ve heard in ages!”
