Grab a drink and join Tim May, Curator of Maps and Mobilities for an evening of informal conversation with artists Güler Ates and Shorsh Saleh.
Ates and Saleh are known for their evocative works, which explore themes including migration and exile. Two of their pieces are featured in 'Crossings', a new display in the Queen's House that centres migrant voices. These include Shore to Shore, Ates' soundscape inspired by the story of a Turkish refugee family's escape over the border to Greece, and Saleh's painting Crossing Border, which highlights migrants' courage in braving the perilous ocean in the hope of a better life.
During the event, Ates and Saleh will discuss their displayed artworks, as well as their wider artistic practice. Following their presentations, you will have the opportunity to view the display in person. The event will end with an open Q&A session.
The event takes place in the Orangery in the Queen's House. Attendees will receive one free beverage on arrival. Additional drinks can be purchased from the bar throughout the evening.
Space for this event is limited. If you are unable to attend, please contact the Bookings team via email bookings@rmg.co.uk, so we can offer your spot to someone on the waiting list.
