Journal of Reverend Charles Edward Panter (Volume 1: March 1881 to August 1882)

Contains an explanation of how Reverend Charles Edward Panter joined the Royal Navy, then a commentary on his service on the wooden screw corvette HMS BRITON (1869), on the Cape of Good Hope station, from 7 March 1881 onwards. Includes a loose page with a dried flower attached (unidentified) ,upon which is written "sent from Sierra Leone, Africa by the Revd C.E. Panter chaplain HMS Briton", and a dried flower (unidentified) found on June1882 entry page, Elephant Bay.
