Journal of Reverend Charles Edward Panter (Volume 1: Mar 1881 to Aug 1882)

Contains an explanation of how Reverend Charles Edward Panter joined the Royal Navy, then a commentary on his service on the wooden screw corvette HMS BRITON (1869), on the Cape of Good Hope station, from 7 March 1881 onwards. Includes a loose page with a dried flower attached, which was sent by Panter from Sierra Leone and a dried flower (unidentified) found on June1882 entry page, Elephant Bay.
