Journal of Reverend Charles Edward Panter (Volume 6: September 1885 to April 1887)

On the battleship HMS DREADNOUGHT (1875) in the Mediterranean, until December 1886. Then on the battleship HMS INVINCIBLE (1869), guardship in Southampton Water. Inserts include paper slips, sketched map and receipt. Unidentified fragile botanical fragments stuck to pages for 19-20 August 1886, when Panter was in Bethlehem and Jerusalem (possibly collected on Mount of Olives). Also botanical fragments adhered to pages of 22-26 September 1886, Port Sigri including ones attached over entry for 23 September; "Curious choc.colour fruit, round 1 1/2 in diam. very sticky. These are leaves of the shrub".
