Journal of Reverend Charles Edward Panter (Volume 10: November 1895 to November 1899)

Service on the central battery ship HMS ALEXANDRA (1875) at Portland, then from March 1896 on the armoured cruiser HMS IMPERIEUSE (1883), flagship on the Pacific station, based at Esquimalt near Vancouver. Includes visits to Panama and Chile, and his voyage home via the South Atlantic beginning in April 1899. Inserts include handwritten schedule and typescript (two pages) titled “Summarised from the late Revd C.E. Panter’s Diary No 10 by C.H. PANTER, 1976”. Botanical samples; unidentifed plant specimen attached with two Peruvian postal stamps on pages dated 17 - 22 March 1898. Panter mentions on 19 March; "picked flowers".
