Journal of Reverend Charles Edward Panter (Volume 9: Mar 1893 to Nov 1895)

A continuation of his role as base chaplain at Port Royal, Jamaica, attached to the depot ship HMS URGENT (1855). Departure by steamer to Philadelphia in Jun 1893 and passage home from New York on the passenger liner ETRURIA (1885). Some leave and then an appointment on the central battery ship HMS ALEXANDRA (1875) at Portland from Aug 1893, with his family residing nearby in Weymouth. Inserts include sheet of handwritten notes, possibly by C.H. Panter (1981-1982) made while reading this volume (see also Volumes 7 and 8), printed Cunard list of saloon passengers for RMS ETRURIA New York to Liverpool 24 June 1898 with handwritten list of expenses enclosed) and printed card for St Augustine’s Cross, at Ebbsfleet, Kent.
