A photograph of four Maori women in traditional dress standing with their backs to the camera by a vent in the rocks at Rotorua's springs. Steam can be seen rising from the vent. The woman on the left is pointing down towards the vent while the other three have their arms raised, palms facing forward. All four women are wearing ornate cloaks over long skirts with tassels at the hem. Three Royal Navy sailors are in the distance on the right.

HMS Sussex arrived at Auckland, New Zealand, on 13 March 1935 and departed on 20 March 1935 for Wellington, and this visit may have taken place while at Auckland.
