His Majesty has given order for providing a medal and chain to the value of £50, to be given to Mr John Leech, Master of the ship ANNE OF LONDON, as reward for his courageous defending of his ship against a French man-of-war of 26 guns on 29 December 1689, on her return from Jamaica. You are directed to sign a bill on the Treasurer of the Navy for payment to Thomas Neale, Master of the Mint, for the sum of £50, and to present to this Board an estimate of the charge in order to procure money for the medal and chain.
