Queen; Warship; Fifth rate; Frigate

A full hull model of a 36-gun frigate (circa 1850). Named 'Queen', but doubt exists on how identifiable model is with an actual vessel. Made in the prisoner of war-style using bone and animal horn, it is rigged with silk thread and is complete with a number of fittings. The model is decked and mounted on a baseboard depicted with six crew surrounded by cannon, small boats and various items of equipment. Plaque inscribed ‘This model of HMS Queen was made by Charles Woodrow naval pensioner, of Kings Lynn; Norfolk about 1850’.
