Whether you're looking at the history of migration, polar explorers or the central importance of the ocean, the National Maritime Museum has a session for you.
Our schools programme supports subject areas including history, geography, numeracy and literacy. We also run specialist SEND sessions. Experienced facilitators lead all of our sessions.
This year, the National Maritime Museum is also hosting a space and astronomy programme while the Royal Observatory undergoes an exciting regeneration project.

What we offer
Primary programme
The primary programme at the National Maritime Museum offers unique opportunities to engage with the vital histories of people and the sea, and our amazing collections. Our dynamic and interactive sessions help learners to develop their own thoughts and responses in a creative and cross-curricular way.
Primary visits could include the opportunity to explore our galleries, including our All Hands or AHOY! children’s galleries, our new Ocean Court and our award-winning Cove playground.
Primary school sessions (for a class of up to 30 students) must be booked in advance and cost £90. Greenwich schools go free.
Secondary and post-16 programme
The secondary programme concentrates on historical enquiry skills. We offer a range of curriculum-linked enquiry days across all key stages that encourage learners to critically evaluate a wide range of sources. They will handle replica objects, examine real objects in our galleries and have the unique opportunity to get up close to original documents from our library and archive.
Structured around a key enquiry question, these days are designed to bring complex histories to life and encourage a deeper understanding of your chosen topic and the nature of historic enquiry.
Secondary school sessions are free but must be booked in advance.

However, single-class sessions in the AHOY! Children's Gallery must be booked via the enquiry form.
