PM11766/31; The three water tanks outside the west wall of the Bonehouse at Pauline Cove on Herschel Island. These tanks were filled with ice from the lake by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) who stayed at the settlement until 1964. The Bonehouse was originally built in the mid 1890s as a storehouse for baleen, also called “whalebone”. After 1906, this structure was used by the police for storage. The Canadian national flag can be seen painted onto the red corrugated iron roof.
