H.M.S. "ARETHUSA" (1914) EXPANSION OF OUTER BOTTOM PLATING (AS FITTED)

Scale 1:48 tracing drawing showing the Shell Expansion, including the 40, 60 and 80 lbs (i.e. nominal 1, 1.5 and 2 inch) protective (armour) plating over the shell plating, with the sheerstrake armour joined with butt straps to form part of the longitudinal strength (50lbs strap, 80 lbs armour, on 40lbs shell plating). Protective plating was H.T. steel, i.e. non-cemented.
