A bread fruit tree in the middle of a village, Ki Doulan.

A view of the centre of the village of Ki Doulan with a large bread fruit tree in the centre-right of the image. Thatched wooden houses built on posts to keep them above ground-level line the wide pathway along the righthand side. Other ground-level thatched buildings can be seen beyond the tree.

HMS Challenger (1858) visited Ki Doulan between 24 and 26 September 1874 during its scientific circumnavigation of the globe.
