A view of Thursday island [Waibene] from Goode Island [Goods Island/Palilag]

A view along a beach at Goode Island [Goods Island/Palilag] looking towards Thursday [?] Island across the Torres Strait. A ship's boat is anchored off the beach with a small rowing gig at anchor further out. A sailor sits on the beach just above the waterline watching another sailor in the act of throwing a stick for dog standing next to him. He and the dog are beside a small rowing boat pulled up on the beach, mostly above the waterline.

The photograph is captioned: 'Tuesday [sic] Island. Torres Straits from Goode Island.'

Dr Coppinger records arriving off Somerset and Albany Island in early June and remained in the Torres Strait area for four months. They left on 1 October for Port Darwin, arriving on 20 October 1881.
