A general view of cultivated land along the coast at Port Darwin

A general view from an elevated position of cultivated land along the coast at Port Darwin. The small demarcated fields are neatly planted with vegetables, similar to an allotment. A large white verandahed house stands on a rocky outcrop above the cultivated land.

The photograph is captioned: 'Scene. Port Darwin. N. Australia.'

Dr. R. W. Coppinger records arriving at Port Darwin on 20 October 1881 but does not state when they left. However, he does say that they saw Timor on 5 November.
