Journal of Frederick Arthur Buckley, May 1904-September 1910.

Journal kept by Frederick Arthur Buckley, 28 May 1904 to 28 September 1910. During this period Buckley was a midshipman on HMS CRESCENT (1892) on the Cape of Good Hope station and underwent courses at Portsmouth and Greenwich. After passing for lieutenant his appointments included the battleship HMS ST VINCENT (1908) in the Home Fleet. The journal includes lists of officers, photographs, newspaper cuttings and ephemera.

Includes a caricature of Sultan Mohammed Shah, Agha Khan III by ‘Spy’ (caricaturist Leslie Ward), 1940. [Catalogue information compiled as part of ‘Unlocking Collections’, a project to find images of ‘global majority’ people across RMG’s collections, 2017-present].
